How to Make Your Home Feel Like a Little Holiday
This is specifically for anyone that loves homes that make you feel something

The ones that instantly give you a feeling of a favourite holiday, a long lunch in the sunshine or somewhere you've visited and never quite forgotten. It makes you feel instantly welcomed,it's lived in and has bags of personality with barely a white or grey wall in sight!
It doesn't mean your home needs to look like a Mediterranean villa. You can create that relaxed, holiday feeling with a few simple changes.
1. Start with colour
Mediterranean interiors are rarely afraid of colour. Think sunny yellows, warm terracotta, olive greens, cobalt and soft blues. It doesn't mean instantly paint your walls you could start small by choosing a couple of colours that make you happy and introduce them through artwork, accessories and cushions and other textiles.
2. Bring in pattern
Pattern adds personality and makes a room feel less predictable. Stripes, checks, botanical motifs and hand-painted details can all help create that relaxed Mediterranean feel.
Don't worry about everything matching perfectly. A little bit of contrast is what makes a home feel collected rather than coordinated.
3. Choose things with character
Handmade and hand-painted pieces naturally bring warmth into a room because they aren't completely perfect. A brushstroke, slight variation or little imperfection gives an object a story and makes your home feel more personal.
I find the best way is to mix and match old pieces with new.
4. Don't forget the everyday and how you live in the space
You don't need to completely redesign your home to create this feeling.
A colourful tea towel in the kitchen, a piece of artwork on the wall, a hand-painted plate or a beautiful card tucked into a frame can all bring a little sunshine into an otherwise ordinary day.
For me, that's what Mediterranean style is really about.
It's not about recreating a particular room. It's about recreating the feeling of being somewhere warm, relaxed and joyful.
And if your home can give you a tiny bit of that feeling on a grey weekday morning, even better.
